“We are the odd collision of art and agriculture, surf and turf, mountains and sea. Where else can you buy fresh grown strawberries in the morning, spend the day at the beach, and then take a train ride through the redwoods? Being local gives me the perspective and the contacts to ensure that the Fair continues to be well sponsored and that the people of Santa Cruz and surrounding counties will get a fun and enjoyable County Fair that feels like it belongs to them,” said Fraser.
Fraser’s fondness for fairs dates back to his childhood.
“When I was in my tweens, my father ran the county fair circuit across California as part of a music band and my family went with him. This inspired me to later participate in several Renaissance Faires in my late teens. I think the fair has been calling to me for a long time, and I'm excited to finally answer that call,” he said.
Fraser will be working with our dedicated teams to make the 2023 Fair a success. He plans to meet with volunteers, staff and members of the community to bring clarity, consensus and closure after recent uncertainty.
The Santa Cruz County Fair celebrates the rich agricultural history of our community and people and invests heavily in bringing this heritage to our youth. The 2023 Fair will be held September 13-17, at the Fairgrounds located on Highway 152 just east of Watsonville. Information on the Fair, and the Fairgrounds - a year-round entertainment and event venue, can be found at santacruzcountyfair.com
